What is acidic condensate?
Acidic condensate is a by-product of the combustion process in condensing, gas-fired heating appliances, such as boilers, furnaces, and hot water heaters. If discharged without proper treatment, acidic condensate can cause serious damage to floors, drains, sewer systems, wastewater infrastructure, and the surrounding environment. JJM® condensate neutralizers are purpose-built and designed to ensure condensing heating appliances can safely operate, protecting facilities and the environment.
What is a condensate neutralizer?
JJM® neutralizers ensure high-efficiency, condensing heating appliances can safely operate, protecting facilities and the environment. JJM® products are trusted by engineers, contractors, and service technicians to ensure the safe treatment of condensate in compliance with industry, federal, state, and local codes.
How do I know if I need a condensate neutralizer?
In most cases, a condensate neutralizer should be installed in concert with a condensing gas-fired heating appliance. JJM® products are trusted by engineers, contractors, and service technicians to ensure the safe treatment of condensate in compliance with industry, federal, state, and local codes.
Always consult the local authority regarding any requirements concerning condensate handling codes.
Can I install a neutralizer myself?
JJM® products should only be installed and serviced by a qualified installer/service technician. Failure to follow Installation, Operation & Maintenance instructions completely can cause a safety hazard, severe personal injury, death or substantial property damage. Always consult the local authority regarding any requirements concerning condensate handling codes.
How do I size a neutralizer?
When selecting the appropriate neutralizer, the engineer, contractor, or service technician should consider several factors, including: BTU Input of Heating Appliance, Heating Days, System Design, Operating Hours.
Does the neutralizer need to be serviced like a heating appliance?
Yes. The neutralizer should be serviced regularly, including visual inspection for leaks or damage and replacement of the pH Power Pellets™. JJM® products use our proprietary pH Power Pellets®, which are produced at our facility and whose formula has been developed over years. pH Power Pellets® are found exclusively in JJM® products.
pH Power Pellets® must be replaced the sooner of (i) annually, or (ii) the pH level at the outlet of the neutralizer drops below 5.0 (or the minimum level of the local water authority).
The pH level can be monitored by taking a sample from the outlet of the neutralizer using a suitable pH test strip or an electronic pH meter for precise measurements.
pH Power Pellets® refills can be purchased from your local JJM® distributor.
